Fraud protection
Apple Pay is built with security and privacy at its core. Every step is designed to protect cardholders and reduce the impact of fraudulent activities for issuers.
- Authentication required: Every transaction requires cardholder authentication with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode. This is designed so only cardholders can authorize the usage of installment plans with their cards.
- Purchases stay private: Apple processes cardholder data to connect customers with their issuer and show available payment plans. Apple does not retain personal financial data linked to the cardholder.
- Cardholder data, protected: The cardholder’s actual card number is never shared with merchants.
